Offroad Wars 2012 at Maritime Raceway

I recently attended the Offroad Wars meeting at Maritime Raceway.
I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I have some other big meetings but there are many who did..
I took a few pics while I was there so thought I would post them up so those who didn't manage to make it along could get a flavour of the venue and the meeting in general.

The track is situated on the top floor of a fantastic old building in Chatham dockyard. It used to be a rope manufacturing facility so is long and low.

The access is certainly not wheelchair friendly as one needs to ascend three narrow flights of stairs.

There was a great turnout with both classes sold out far in advance. Most pitting spaces were reserved long before the average punter turned up. If you weren't lucky enough to get one there was an overflow area in the roof space which was a little lacking in atmosphere.

There were some nice trophies for podium finishers in all finals . . Good work guys I think this is as it should be.

A tricky little track, mostly carpet with a few boarded sections, that took some getting used to.

Most manufacturers were well represented by both club racers and pros. Tamiya's Lee Martin was going well as was Durango driver Jorn Neumann who had made the trip to the UK for this event.

Sorry Trish, I know you'll love this one.

Busy busy busy!

RC car racing is a serious business, just ask Rob Elmes.

These guys have a great little cafe purveying all manner of top vittles.

Rob Forbes, is this some secret tyre prep?
You can't still be hungry I saw your breakfast!

A testing corner table top.

Scrutineering amounted to a tyre and weight check.

What must all this kit be worth?
Frightening.

Darren 'TLR' Bloomfield.
Always helpful and a credit to Losi, top fella.

So there you have it.
Offroad Wars 2012.
